Wim’s Ice Odyssey is written as a children’s picture book for ages 6 and up, but it’s very much a story for all ages. The themes of courage, calmness, resilience, and stepping gently outside your comfort zone resonate just as strongly with adults as they do with children.
Even my own 74‑year‑old mum uses lines from the story as daily encouragement before stepping into her cold shower — proof that the message reaches far beyond childhood.
While the book is loosely inspired by Wim Hof and some of his incredible feats, it isn’t only for families who want to introduce children to the cold in a safe, gentle way. It’s equally for those who never plan to put even a toe into icy water but still want to inspire:
an adventurous spirit
courage in everyday life
calmness under pressure
emotional resilience
a deeper connection with nature
At its heart, it’s a story about discovering the power within — something every child, parent, grandparent, and cold‑shower‑avoider can relate to.
